Ideating - To Get Started with App Development

The only way to get your application published in the market is to write an App, yourself!!!.

Now the point is what should this App do, what should it be about?? and then the simplest of ideas hit me -----> The app needs to do nothing store everything on the phone and just display facts. Its an interesting way to capture attention and get started. It does not take a lot of efforts, I dont have to take a lot of time out from my day job to do this (I am a software engineer...... What did you guess :D) I also get the knowledge about publishing apps

P.S - I am getting bored writing about general stuff, my fingers twitch to write technicals about the platform but I dont want to get lost in the bandwagon. There are some pretty amazing sites out there - try anddev.org for starters.

So I dedicate this page to my tryst with getting an app published on Android Market and then the next and then the next ....... lets hope the Droid Lasts for Eternity.

Why Me, Why Android .... the Journey till date

There are a million reasons why the developer community has been moving over to Android Development, some think that open source is the way to go, others because of their sheer hatred for Apple Inc.

Is any of these reasons enough to join the Bandwagon.

I was introduced to Android at work when my manager kept his promise and gave me a work item to develop in it.

My instructions were crisp and clear "You take a day to learn an Android and start with your work item from tomorrow".

I was thinking "How can people think that development on a new platform can be so very easy"..... But I was indeed able to learn enough in one day to start working and correcting a few "Activities" (you would know what this is if you are an android developer).

Then I did a lot of study to put to words what I had learnt about development in Android and learning android started becoming fun.

Now 9 months after I first wrote a piece for Android and which also earned me my first trip to US, I think , I love the platform and while I am at it, I will sure start trying as hell to make this platform an awesome experience for android users.
